In Memory of Kay Yow

I know I'm a little late on this post, but I'm doing it anyway. As many of you probably know, the NC State Womens Basketball coach Kay Yow died Saturday after a long battle with cancer. Yow won her 1,000th game against Ole Miss, 66-62. That also was her last game, although she didn't know it yet.

Steelers Keys to Win

The Steelers defense needs to play like the #1 defense they've been all season. If they let Larry Fitzgerald go what he did to the Panthers, the Cardinals will pull away, and not come back. Pittsburgh also needs Willie Parker to take control of the game against the #19 defense in the NFL. Hines Ward, even though he is not at full strength, will still be a factor, and Ben Roethlisberger will need to get him the ball.

Cardinals Keys to Win

To beat Pittsburgh in Super Bowl XLIII, Arizona will have to get the ball to Larry Fitzgerald. He is their main offensive threat, but they also need to establish a good run game early. Fitzgerald is good, but if he is being triple-covered by Polomalu, Ike Taylor, and Deshea Townsend, the Cardinals need other options. Their defense needs to play the way they did against Carolina, or they don't stand a chance against Willie Parker and Hines Ward.

Super Bowl XLIII Preview

The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Arizona Cardinals are meeting in Tampa on February 1st. I think the Steelers will win, 24-7. The MVP will be Troy Polamolu, or Ben Roethlisberger. I know I'm biased, but that is what I predict.

800 and Counting

Whooooo! Sylvia Hatchell just got her 800th win! Carolina just beat State 75-66 at the Smith Center! Hatchell's 500th, 600th, 700th, and 800th win were all against State. She now joins the elite club of womens coaches with 800+ wins. The current members are Sylvia Hatchell, Pat Summit of Tennessee, C. Vivian Stringer of Rutgers, and Jody Conradt, a retired Texas coach. But anyway, WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Divisional Weekend

Ok, so this weekend is divisional playoff weekend, and the 1st game, Tennessee vs Baltimore is tied 10-10 with 1:09 left in the 4th quarter, but Baltimore is driving, and is in Tennessee territory. Sorry, I had to eat dinner, Baltimore won 13-10. The Panthers and Cardinals play in about 5 minutes

This is a break from my normal sports posts to say goodbye to my guinea pig, Dazzle, who died last night. He died in his sleep, so there was no pain for him, which is good, but I miss him very much. :-(
